As a Colchester wedding florist, designing flower arrangements for historic Essex venues like Wivenhoe House Hotel is a highlight of my work. The 18th-century manor house provides a backdrop where soft, garden-inspired floral arrangements complement classical architecture and grand interiors.
In February, I collaborated with a team of local creative suppliers to curate a styled editorial shoot at Wivenhoe House. The focus was on creating effortless, garden-gathered floral designs that inspire couples planning an Essex wedding.
The Floral Design: Garden-Gathered Pastels & Romantic Textures
For this shoot, I designed a bridal bouquet inspired by an English country garden—wild, organic, and filled with movement and delicate textures.
Colour Palette & Flower Choices
- The Palette: Soft delphinium blues, warm blush and peach garden roses, creamy ivory accents, and natural foliage.
- Key Floral Elements: Delicate blue delphiniums, sweet chamomile daisies, hellebores, soft peach spray roses, and textured greenery.
- The Style: An airy, hand-tied bouquet designed with an organic shape that feels freshly gathered from a garden rather than tightly structured.
This palette works well for couples seeking an ethereal look that bridges classical romance and contemporary styling.
Styling Flowers at Wivenhoe House Hotel
When designing wedding flowers for Wivenhoe House, it helps to consider how arrangements interact with the venue's spaces:
- Framing the Natural Light: The grand bay windows allow natural light to filter through, illuminating softer pastel tones like delphinium blues and blush pinks.
- Complementing Detail & Lace: A textured, garden-style bouquet pairs beautifully with intricate lace gowns and soft, romantic bridal makeup, adding a splash of colour while keeping the overall look graceful.
- Bringing the Parkland Inside: Wivenhoe Park is known for its historic trees and rolling lawns. Incorporating wilder elements like chamomile, hellebores, and dancing greens brings that outdoor landscape right into your indoor photos.
